Baby Usman, a 2-year-old child, was admitted with severe respiratory distress and was diagnosed with left-sided empyema with pneumonia, a serious condition involving pus accumulation in the pleural cavity along with lung infection.

Despite initial medical management, his condition worsened, necessitating surgical intervention. He underwent a thoracotomy and lobectomy, which are major procedures involving opening the chest and removing the affected portion of the lung to control infection and prevent further complications.

Post-surgery, Baby Usman remains in a critical condition and requires:

• Prolonged hospitalization
• Continuous ventilatory support
• Intensive care monitoring
• High-end antibiotics and supportive medications
• Nutritional and respiratory rehabilitation

The treating team has advised that his recovery will be gradual and will require sustained medical care.

The approximate cost of treatment is ₹7,60,000 (Seven Lakhs Sixty Thousand Rupees).

Baby Usman belongs to an economically disadvantaged family. His father is a daily wage laborer working in a flour mill, earning a very modest and inconsistent income. The family has no savings or financial backup to support such a high-cost treatment.

Given their financial constraints, they are unable to bear the medical expenses, and the child’s life-saving treatment is at risk due to lack of funds.
