The newborn baby of Madhu Padaya, the second twin born on 15 July 2024, has been diagnosed with several critical conditions due to premature birth. These conditions include severe respiratory distress, Hyaline Membrane Disease (HMD), and early-onset sepsis. As a very preterm infant, the baby requires immediate and intensive medical care to address these life-threatening conditions.
The baby is experiencing severe respiratory distress characterized by difficulty breathing, rapid breathing, and grunting. This is primarily due to Hyaline Membrane Disease, a condition where the lungs are not fully developed and lack sufficient surfactant, causing difficulty in maintaining open airways. Additionally, the baby has been diagnosed with early-onset sepsis, a severe infection that requires prompt and aggressive treatment.
The treatment plan for this newborn includes:
1. **Respiratory Support:** Mechanical ventilation and/or continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) to support breathing and ensure adequate oxygenation.
2. **Surfactant Therapy:** Administration of surfactant to help the baby’s lungs function more effectively.
3. **Antibiotic Therapy:** Intravenous antibiotics to treat and prevent the spread of infection due to early-onset sepsis.
4. **Nutritional Support:** Use of feeding tubes to provide necessary nutrition and fluids.
5. **Monitoring and Supportive Care:** Continuous monitoring of vital signs and regular blood tests to manage and respond to any complications.
The estimated total cost for the treatment of the newborn baby at Children's Hospital, including 60 days of stay, pre and post-treatment investigations, doctor charges, medication charges, consumables, and feeding tubes, is approximately 500,000 INR.
The baby’s father works as a normal sales person, earning a modest income to support the family. However, the cost of the newborn's medical treatment far exceeds their financial means. The family's financial situation, combined with the urgent need for intensive care, makes it impossible for them to afford the necessary medical care for their baby.
Given the dire financial circumstances faced by the family and the critical nature of the baby’s condition, we earnestly request assistance in securing funding or resources to cover the cost of the medical treatment. Every effort will be made to ensure that the newborn baby receives the specialized and life-saving care urgently needed.
Your support and assistance during this critical time will make a profound difference in the life of this newborn and the family’s well-being. We appeal to your compassion and generosity in helping to alleviate their financial burden and provide them with the hope and reassurance they need during this challenging journey.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We remain hopeful for a positive response and deeply appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
