The baby of Vidisha Rewale was born prematurely, at just 29 weeks gestational age, with a birth weight of 800 grams. She was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) immediately after birth due to her extremely low birth weight and prematurity. Upon evaluation, she was diagnosed with Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), a common complication of prematurity, as well as Rh incompatibility.
The management of this preterm infant with very low birth weight involves a multidisciplinary approach, including respiratory support, nutritional support, monitoring for complications, and potentially other interventions as necessary. Treatment for RDS typically includes oxygen therapy, surfactant administration, and mechanical ventilation to support the baby's breathing until her lungs mature sufficiently to function on their own.
Additionally, Rh incompatibility may necessitate interventions such as phototherapy or exchange transfusions to prevent or manage haemolytic disease of the newborn, depending on the severity of the condition.
The cost of caring for a preterm infant with very low birth weight, especially one requiring intensive care in the NICU, can be substantial. This includes expenses related to hospitalization, specialized medical equipment, medications, laboratory tests, and other ancillary services. It is estimated that the treatment for Baby of Vidisha Rewale will require approximately 400,000 INR, a significant sum that poses a considerable financial burden for her family.
Vidisha Rewale, the mother of the baby, is the primary caregiver for her newborn daughter. Vidisha's husband works as a daily wage labourer, earning a modest income that is insufficient to cover the cost of their daughter's medical care. With limited financial resources and no access to health insurance or government assistance programs, the family is facing immense difficulty in affording the necessary treatment for their baby girl.
Given the dire financial circumstances faced by the Rewale family, we earnestly request assistance in securing funding or resources to cover the cost of their daughter's medical treatment. Every effort will be made to ensure that Baby of Vidisha Rewale receives the specialized care she urgently needs to overcome the challenges associated with prematurity and other medical complications.
Your support and assistance during this critical time will make a profound difference in the life of this vulnerable newborn and her family. We appeal to your compassion and generosity in helping to alleviate their financial burden and provide them with the hope and reassurance they need during this challenging journey.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We remain hopeful for a positive response and deeply appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
