The newborn Baby of Prema is currently admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with respiratory distress, a serious condition in which a newborn experiences difficulty in maintaining adequate breathing and oxygenation.

Due to the baby's delicate condition, close observation and specialized neonatal care are required. The baby needs continuous monitoring and respiratory support to stabilize the condition and prevent further complications.

As advised by the treating neonatology team, the baby requires:

• Non-invasive respiratory support
• Intravenous fluid management
• Intravenous antibiotics
• Continuous monitoring of respiratory status and vital parameters
• Specialized neonatal supportive care

The baby is expected to require approximately 3 weeks of NICU hospitalization for close monitoring, evaluation, treatment, and stabilization.

During this period, the baby may require continued respiratory support, medications, investigations, nutritional management, and round-the-clock nursing and medical supervision.

As per the hospital's cost certificate, the estimated expenditure for the baby's treatment is approximately:

₹2,50,000 – ₹3,00,000/-

(The final expenditure may vary depending on the baby's clinical condition, duration of NICU stay, treatment requirements, medicines, investigations, and other supportive care.)

Baby of Prema belongs to a financially constrained family. The baby's father works as a sweeper and earns a very modest income. His limited earnings are insufficient to meet the substantial cost of prolonged NICU hospitalization and specialized treatment required for his newborn child.

The family is facing significant financial hardship and is unable to arrange the required medical expenses on their own.
