“My 7 years old son, Nehal is very curious and asks many questions. From how birds fly to how the television works, he never stops to express his curiosity. But now, when he lies in the hospital bed and undergoes chemotherapy along with the kidney treatment, his questions make me cry. He wants me to explain to him why he comes to hospital so often and why do I keep crying.” – says Kashish Nehal's mother.
Nehal has been battling Pre B CELL ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) since he was three years old and recently been diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome which is a kidney disorder.
Little Nehal suffered from a terrible fever. But what worried Kashish and Nooren was their son's swollen body. When they took him to the doctors, they started treating her for infections. But Nehal's pain got worse. After undergoing numerous tests in different hospitals, Kashish and Nooren found that Nehal has blood cancer called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, also got diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome which is a kidney disorder that causes the body to pass too much protein in their urine because of which little Nehal’s body got swollen and require urgent dialysis, Medication course and investigation.
“My little boy has lost all interest in the things that he once loved to do. He used to love drawing random things on our walls. Now he can hardly keep his eyes open for long. He loved to eat chocolates and chips, but if he eats much he starts to throw up. Cancer has also made him stubborn and irritable. If we don’t fulfil his demands, he begins throwing things and starts crying. But when I see the pain on his face, all I want is to save him at any cost.” – Nooren Khan, Nehal's father
Nooren is working as a driver at village in Bihar district and Mother is a housewife. His income is never fixed, and he earns around 7000 to 8000 per month. Nehal’s treatment was not responding in positive way at Bihar so Kashish the Mother came with Nehal in Mumbai for treatment and Nooren has to stay in Bihar.
The poor parents have already spent more than a lakh on Nehal's treatment. They desperately want to save their son from cancer and kidney infection. But after being so challenging to earn money, the father has no means to arrange 150,000 for his son's treatment. If little Nehal doesn’t get the treatment soon, he will succumb to her cancer.
